Bandanas Block Beautifully

Randomness:

Today I saw a bird soaring comfortably through the airspace of my local Wal-mart. I could be wrong, but I think that means WallyWorld is absolutely gynormous.

This picture was taken on my most recent Spring Break trip. I like it, so I thought I'd share it. For more from the Guadalupe Mountains, click here. (but not until you've finished reading)

I greatly enjoy chocolate chips. Plain. I eat them like popcorn.

I won $100. For real. I know. I'm shocked too. About 2 months ago I participated in a research study at A&M to earn extra credit in my Management class. Another incentive to the whole 3-hour guiny pig study was the [highly unlikely] chance of winning the a cash grand prize for the team (of 4) with the highest score. To my great surprise, my name was announced as my 300 fellow classmates sat on the edge of their seats. Splendid indeed. The check is flying to me as we speak (or, as I type, however you look at it).

Contrast

Here is something (I guess it's a poem, isn't everything these days considered poetry? or art?) that I threw together after reading some Nehemiah. It was inspired by 9:16-21. And once again, when my post is not based on the photo, I fill in the gap with another flower shot. What can I say? Flowers are generic and always smile for the camera. The following is titled "Contrast".

I am stiff-necked,
you are abounding in love.
I am disobedient,
you are patient.
I am blind,
you are ever-bright.
I am adulterous,
you are slow to anger.
I am unfaithful,
you are true.
I am unappreciative,
you are generous.
I am growing. You are growing me.

BooYa (The Sequel)

I'm stunned! I just might have discovered my career path. It would be something involving the population control [read: slaughtering] of snakes. I say this because in one 24-hour period, I succeeded in killing two of these horrible creatures. Who woulda thunk it? Not I. But when the opportunity arises, a man must take action. So, as you know from the last post, I destroyed what appeared to be a Copperhead hangin' out on the jogging path of a local park. The next day, I stumbled upon the distant relative of the deceased Copperhead. His name was Mr. PansyGreenOne. He was about the width of a pinky, but quite longer than his 2nd cousin's great uncle. The second I spotted him, I froze in disbelief. "Again?", I asked. Then I immediately searched the vicinity for some stones (seeing that those proved to be a good weapon in my last bout). No stones were available, so I grabbed the nearest hunk of wood and proceeded to give Mr. PansyGreenOne a few good thumps on the mid-section. This fellow was out like a belly-button.

BooYa

As I strolled down the path of Wolf Pen Creek Park late last night, I happenchanced to look down at the most opportune moment. Behold, it was a snake! Three steps prior to planting my Chaco-laden foot near his face, I caught a glimpse of this poisonous Copperhead. I paused immediately, pondered if he was really alive (for he moved not), and then began war. I grabbed a few rocks from the drainage ditch to my right, and began lobbing them at Mr. Snake. After three misses, he began to do some S-curve action. Then I made contact. A rock smashed his midsection. I was jubilate. Then I was even more jubilant when I saw a S-curve trail of blood. I continued my bombardment. One rock made impact and then rested on the snake's tail, penning him to the concrete. Oh this was too good! Man against hopeless beast. A couple blows to the head and the war was won. One problem though: I had no witnesses, nor my trusty D50 to document this triumph. So I outlined the battleground with a ring of rocks to preserve the scene while I went home to fetch my camera. See it and believe it.

Easter Sunday

I took this photo of a stained-glass window a couple of weeks back. It kinda looks Easter-ish, so I thought it would be appropriate to debut it on such a day as today.

Yesterday, during my ongoing journey through the Old Testament, I came across an amazing section in I Chronicles (of all places!). Like the picture (but in a 1000x the magnitude), I thought it tied in perfectly to what Easter is all about (Christ's death & resurrection bringing salvation to those who know Him, not simply bunnies and eggs). From chapter 16, verses 28-36:

"Ascribe to the Lord glory and strength!
Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
bring an offering and come before him!
Worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness;
tremble before him, all the earth...
Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice,
and let them say among the nations, "The Lord reigns!"
Let the sea roar, and all that fills it;
let the field exult, and everything in it!
Then shall the trees of the forest sing for joy before the Lord,
for he come to judge the earth.
Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
for his steadfast love endures forever!
Save us, O God of our salvation...
that we may give thanks to your holy name, and glory in your praise.
Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel,
from everlasting to everlasting!"

The Psalms

Worthy Indeed

You're calling me to lay aside
The worries of my day,
To quiet down my busy mind
And find a hiding place.

I open up my heart
And let my spirit worship yours.
I open up my mouth
And let a song of praise come forth.

Worthy, you are worthy.

Of a childlike faith, and of my honest praise
Of my unashamed love.
Of a holy life, and of my sacrifice
Of my unashamed love.
